East

One of the larger sections of Manhattan Beach starts east of Sepulveda Blvd., south of Manhattan Beach Blvd., west of Aviation Blvd. and north of Artesia Blvd. with 2nd Street splitting it horizontal in the middle. Many of the street names in this area are named after famous Poets and early American Tycoons, a fun little history fact of the area. There are a handful of subsections; Liberty Village, The Mira Costa Section and Terraza Estates. Liberty Village is an area located between Marine Ave. and Manhattan Beach Blvd. Residents of this area are walking distance from Polliwog Park, the largest public park in Manhattan Beach. Polliwog Park is the location of the Summer Concert Series, a gem of the South Bay. Located across from the park is Begg Pool, open during the summer months they host classes and are open for recreational swimming. The Mira Costa Section are the homes that surround Mira Costa High School. This area tends to have homes with lots upwards of 7,500sq/ft and many have pools and larger backyards than other Manhattan homes. Some homes located in this area on the hills have stunning views of Downtown Los Angeles. Terraza Estates is a small section where you can find some of the largest lots in the beach cities, there are a few with slightly over half an acre! This area is placed away from major streets and there is less through traffic which makes for a pleasant and quite neighborhood experience. Along with that many homes are distanced nicely from one another for seclusion and privacy that is sought after.

Mira Costa High School is in this section, the only high school in Manhattan Beach but also home to Meadows and Pennykamp Elementary schools. While homes south of Manhattan Beach Blvd. attend Pennykamp, homes north of Manhattan Beach Blvd. attend Meadows Elementary.
